Ultrabook is a special type of Slim Laptop. The very first Ultrabook Laptop was introduced by Intel at Computex in 2011 as a type of subnotebook. The term Ultrabook was invented and trademarked By Intel just to categorize this type of PC. Ultrabooks are similar to regular notebooks but they need to meet a few key requirements to be categorized as premium Ultrabook. Namely: slim laptop aesthetics, longer battery backup, Hi-end CPU, and Small Screen. Today slim Ultrabook laptops have become more popular than regular laptops.
In case you are looking for a Good Premium Ultrabook Slim Laptop in 2025; you can get one from brands like Razer, HP, MSI, ASUS, Lenovo, DELL, Samsung, Huawei, Acer, Microsoft, and Apple.
As we mentioned earlier, Intel has set a few definitive requirements to qualify a laptop as a Premium Ultrabook. Those requirements are based on design choices and System specifications. If a slim laptop has a system configuration fulfilling these requirements; it can be marketed as an Ultrabook.
In order to market as a Premium Ultrabook, a laptop must meet a minimum of 4 of those requirements.
Up until now, we all know that a Premium Ultrabook is a slim laptop with a fast processor and slim design. But how these laptops are different from regular Laptops? Let’s find out
In terms of Design, Ultrabooks are thinner and lighter than most laptops. For example, a 13.3 inch Ultrabook weighs around 4 pounds and is up to 20 mm thin but a regular laptop of the same size is thicker and heavier. As mentioned earlier, Intel does not impose a limit for weight but for thickness. As per the rule up to 14-inch ultrabook slim laptops have to measure less than 20 mm or 0.7 inches in their thickest point, while larger 14 and 15.6-inch ultrabooks can go up to 21 mm or 0.8 inches in thickness. If there’s a touchscreen on a particular ultrabook laptop, the limit is 23 mm or 0.9 inches.
Most ultrabooks have a slim and sleek look built with an overall high-quality finish and Premium materials like magnesium, aluminum, carbon fiber, glass. While Most regular laptops use plastic as their build materials.
Most Slim Ultrabooks have a shallow keyboard due to low space. Although many modern Ultrabook laptops have good keyboards; they are low in number.
Battery backup is where an Ultrabook laptop Shines the most. As per Intel’s requirements, an Ultrabook must have a longer battery backup than a regular gaming Laptop. So, IvyBridge or older ultrabooks have at least 5 hours of backup, while newer Haswell ultrabooks have 9 hours of idle, 6 hours of video, and at least 7 days of Standby time. As Ultrabooks are slim laptops, the batteries alongside other components are in most cases encased or soldered.
If you are planning on buying an Ultrabook Slim laptop keep an eye out for these factors:

Hard Drive: Ultrabooks usually utilizes either a high-speed SSD or an HDD. While the HDD offers a large capacity from 500GB to 7TB; The SSD offers a lower capacity & higher reading and writing speed up to 900MBPS.
